A MAN is in hospital being treated for a serious head injury.
The 26-year-old was discovered unconscious inside a block of flats in Sulgrave, Washington, on Saturday morning.
A passerby discovered the man in a communal area of the building in Cherwell, in Sulgrave, at 7.08am and called an ambulance.
The injured man has been taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where his condition is described as serious but stable.
Investigating officers have said they are keeping an open mind as to how the man was injured and are appealing for anyone with information, or who was in the area, to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Andy Richardson said: “At present we don’t know how this man came by his injuries and we are asking for help from the public. We’d like to hear from anyone who was in Cherwell, a residential area, at the relevant time to contact us if they think they may have seen this man, or if they have any information which can help our enquiries.”
