Festival fans have been praised by police after only five people were arrested.
Officers who patrolled Houghton Feast say there was “very little disorder” throughout the nine days.
The event, held every October, dates back to the 12th century and features a fairground, church events, shows, community events and more. Five people were arrested for minor offences.
Houghton Neighbourhood Inspector Lisa Musgrove said: “We look forward to Houghton Feast each year, it is always a fantastic event that brings the community of Houghton together and attracts people from afar.
“We’re really pleased that this year there was very little disorder right across the whole of the festival, and only five people arrested for minor offences. This really does go to show what a fantastic community event it is and I’d like to thank all those attending for the great atmosphere.
“We’re already looking forward to next year!”.
