An annual horse fair will make its return to East Durham this weekend.
Police say they understand the organisers of the event plan to host the gathering on a field off the A182 between South Hetton and the roundabout linking Easington Village and the A19 with the agreement of the landowner.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “Historically we know that this fair has taken place without significant incident and no problems are anticipated, however, we recognise that the community may have some concerns and as a result both the police and the council will maintain a uniformed presence in this area for the duration of the event.”
A parade is expected to take place at around midday on Monday through South Hetton, Haswell and back and is due to last an hour, with no road closures planned.
Police will be on site from 9am to 1pm from Thursday to Monday, with a mobile unit to be set up nearby, with anyone with concerns asked to call 101.
