A MAN is being treated for stab wounds after being found unconscious in Pallion.
The 43-year-old man was discovered by passers-by after he collapsed in Merle Terrace at about 12.20am yesterday morning.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene and the road was closed while officers investigated the incident.
Police carried out door-to-door inquiries.
The man was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital, where his condition is described as stable.
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: “Officers attended an area in Pallion and found a 43-year-old man with stab wounds. He was taken to hospital.”
