Police hunt flasher after series of incidents in Sunderland

Police are appealing for help after three reports of indecent exposure in Sunderland.

In the latest incident, a man went into the back garden of a house in Nesburn Road in the Barnes Park area just before 7pm last night.

The man - who was wearing a navy jacket with the hood up but was naked from the waist down - made off when he was spotted by the occupant.

The latest sighting follows two previous reports of a man exposing himself in the area in recent weeks.

The first was on Friday, January 15, at around 8.56pm in Ewing Road and the second on Wednesday, January 20 at 8.30am in Barnes Park Road.

Police believe the same man is involved in all three incidents and are carrying out enquiries, including viewing CCTV and carrying out house to house calls.

T/Superintendent Sarah Pitt said: "This is the third incident we have received of a man exposing himself in the Barnes Park area and obviously we are very concerned.

"We do believe these incidents are linked and it is the same man and it is really important we identify who he is, in light of the circumstances of the latest incident we're really asking for the public's help in our enquiries.

"It may be he has exposed himself to other people who have not reported it to police and I would urge anyone who has witnessed a similar incident to come forward.

"Likewise we want to hear from anyone who may know the identity of this man, maybe they know someone whose behaviour has been causing them concern recently or when they've been out and about they've noticed someone whose behaviour has maybe caused them concern, we know this area is a popular area for people to walk dogs and it could be they've go vital information to help us.

"There will be extra officers in Barnes Park carrying out enquiries and I would urge any local residents who are concerned to speak to an officer."
