Police hunt after patient goes missing from Sunderland mental hospital

POLICE are appealing for help after a patient went missing from a mental hospital in Sunderland.

Hamuda Azaroal, 42, had been receiving treatment at Hopewood Hospital, Stockton Road, in Ryhope.

He had leave from the hospital but failed to return on Tuesday afternoon, November 25, and has not been seen since .

A police spokesman said: “He is described as a black man, 6ft tall, with dark short hair.

“He was last seen wearing a dark waist length jacket, blue jeans, brown shoes, grey/red bobble hat and dark gloves.”

Officers are concerned for Mr Azaroal’s welfare and are carrying out enquiries to locate him.

A spokesman added: “He came to the North East recently from London and may be planning to return there.

“Officers are appealing for him to make contact with them, or anyone who recognises him to call police straightaway.”
