Police believe more people witnessed attack on 13-year-old in Washington

Northumbria Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a teenage girl was assaulted last week.

The incident happened around 5.24pm on Thursday, February 25, near to Holley Park Academy in Ayton Road when the teenager was approached by a man.

He is described as having a shaven bald head and wearing a black and orange tracksuit.

The girl was not injured in the incident.

Enquiries are ongoing and detectives are continuing to appeal for information, in particular anyone who was in or passing through nearby Holley Park on the evening of the incident.

Detective Sergeant Ed Hedley said: "Holley Park is nearby to the where the incident happened and we think there may have been a number of in or passing through the park on Thursday evening and would ask this people to please get in contact with us.

"Our enquiries are still ongoing to identify the offender, and any information members of the community may have that can help us is crucial."
