Police and fire crews called to Wearmouth Bridge as man on wrong side of railings
A man has been talked to safety after crossing over the railings at Wearmouth Bridge this evening.
Northumbria Police officers spent around 45 minutes talking to the young man after he climbed over the railings at around 6.30pm.
A crew from Sunderland Central Fire Station and two specialist crews were also called to the scene.
The RNLI also launched their Atlantic 85 lifeboat to assist police in dealing with the distressed man.
But, after speaking to officers, he climbed back over the railing to safety.
