The team of five from Castletown pump manufacturer Grundfos raised £1,700 for the charity, during their darts marathon.

The five players, Dave Crombie, Christian Carlin, Colin Young, Paul Martin and Darren Wann, completed a series of different darts games, making sure they always had someone on the oche throughout the 24 hours.

They were helped by a support team that included Lyndsey Green and Helen Currie.

Grundfos HR director Catherine Attwell explained: “It was a great team effort, and there were plenty of family and friends to cheer on the team at the Hylton Castle Arms.

“Cancer Research is our chosen charity, so it was nice to be able to raise so much money for them.

“We’d like to thank some of our suppliers who donated raffle prizes so generously, including Sprint Print, who donated the team’s impressive shirts.”

“It was tough at times, but it was also a fun way to raise important funds for a very worthwhile charity.

“Colin and Paul won gold medals in darts at the Grundfos Olympics last year, and the other members of the team are regular players, so they knew what they were doing.”

One generous supporter, Lauren Sinclair, was celebrating her 21st birthday and boosted the funds by asking that people donate money to the charity rather than giving her presents.

Another helped raise money by donating a Unicorn darts shirt and two sets of darts for a raffle.
