I recently attended a lecture by Lord Falconer, better known in the Blair years as the 'Dome Secretary' or 'Minister for The Millennium Dome' and a very close friend of the-then Prime Minister.

It is always useful to listen to another political point of view and my expectations were high especially as it was held in an academic setting.

Sadly, after a promising start it turned into little more that an historical anti-Conservative rant by an experienced speaker seemingly and disappointingly playing to the gallery.

Taking into account the talk was entitled “The Future of Politics” concentrating here in the UK, it was remarkable that there was no specific reference to Jeremy Corbyn.

A surprising but presumably deliberate omission.

Certainly his past master Mr Blair and Mr Corbyn, despite being Labour through and through, seem to occupy a different political planet.
