Pint-sized pirates and princesses have been digging for gold to help charity.

Little ones from Sunshine Playgroup, in Boldon Community Centre, took part in a treasure hunt to raise funds for the Cleft Lip and Palate Service at Newcastle’s RVI.

They were inspired to help the cause by playgroup member Amelia Rose Williams, two, whose uncle Archie Teasdale, eight weeks, was born with a cleft lip.

The play group donated £300 to the charity, and is using remaining funds to pay for the group’s activities.
