Emergency services were called to reports of a gas explosion and building collapse in Sunderland on Saturday, January 18.
The call, which came in at around 4.30pm, prompted a major incident response from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, who sent three appliances to the incident.
Northumbria Police and the North East Ambulance Service were also dispatched to give support and one person was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Steve Thomas, TWFRS Station Manager, reassured the public that the house was “structurally safe” – and that the incident appears to have been caused by “gas build-up” inside the property.
