Victor Anichebe was outstanding up front and scored on his first league start for the Black Cats, cancelling out the Cherries’ opener.

Despite the dismissal of Steven Pienaar, David Moyes’ men showed great character to win all three points, with Jermain Defoe coolly converting a penalty.
