Peterlee women’s team in hunt for new coach

Have your say

A WOMAN’S football squad is searching for a new coach to help secure their future success.

Peterlee St Francis ladies are looking for a manager after Steve Connelly was offered the chance to take up a position with Redcar Athletic.

Club bosses say the side has enjoyed a turnaround in recent times, going from a team fighting relegation to one that made a serious title challenge this year.

Its team, which had 36 members last season, now plays in the North East Regional Premier League, only two promotions away from the national league, with the amateur club – based in Eden Lane in Peterlee – using grounds owned by Peterlee Town Council.

Jimmy Clark, club secretary, said: “The team want to push and continue with their development, but due to the sudden resignation of their team manager, the players find themselves facing an uncertain future.”

The club wants someone with FA coaching badges to at least level three.
