Peterlee Sunday League: Hearts set up double with impressive victory in Second Division Cup final

Leaders Peterlee Hearts secured the first of a possible double by winning the Second Division Cup, with a 4-2 final defeat of Easington Leather Cap.

Peterlee Helford United cruised into the Tommy Burrell Memorial Cup semi-finals with a 9-1 crushing of Second Division Hetton Lyons.

Four-goal Philip Hickman was backed by Gary Shaw (2), Michael Cockburn, Amir Kamil Di Di and Daniel Johnson.

Dawdon Welfare Park moved top in the Premier Division thanks to a 7-1 mauling of Easington Colliery Club Mechanics.

Craig McManus grabbed a hat-trick, backed by Kyle Middleton (2), Robbie Bird and Marc Ruddick. Kieran Mitchell netted in vain for Mechanics.

Horden CW Supporters Club got back to winning ways, beating title hopefuls Easington Lane WMC 4-0. Jack Pounder (2), James Conner and Reece Brymer notched, though they ended with 10 men after Thomas Bott was red-carded for a bad foul.

Two goals apiece from Paul and Liam Wintrip earned Peterlee Catholic Club a 6-0 drubbing of Shotton Comrades to boost their title aspirations.

David Paul and Peter Crawford completed the scoring.

Andrew Upperton, Anthony Peace, Hayden Pace and sub Callum Milne capped a fine Murton Colliery Inn performance as they outgunned Easington Welfare 4-1.

Ryan Martin and Lewis Wilkinson both bagged hat-tricks to inspire joint leaders Seaham Marlborough to a 7-0 rout of Wingate Howden in Division One.

Liam Gill also notched.

John Hunt, Martin Mason, Gary Pennington and Liam Owen earned Trimdon Royal Oaks a 4-2 success against Seaham Parkside, who had Robert Berry sent off.

Chris Anderson and John Brown earned Acre Rigg SC a 2-1 derby victory over Peterlee Hearts, with Ryan Fenwick replying.

Wingate Grange, with goals from Michael Lee, Simon Hall and sub Andrew Morris, beat Peterlee Central Club 3-1, with Sean Pratt responding.

The First Division Cup final is played tonight at Easington Welfare Park, with Seaham The Knack up against Easington CIU (6.15pm kick-off).
