Peterlee Sunday League: Five-goal Lyons make cup progress as Oseni bags a brace

Hetton Lyons eased to a 5-1 first round victory over Second Division rivals Peterlee Central Club.

Michael Bayles struck for Central, but Jeffery Oseni’s brace, supported by Matthew Price, Jon Glenwright and Brandon Steckles, guided Lyons home.

Easington Lane WMC edged past Premier rivals Murton Colliery 1-0, with Craig Patterson notching.

Stephen Francis starred for Lane, Paul Henderson for Murton.

First Division Horden Cricket Club took Premier side Easington Welfare right to the wire in a 3-2 defeat.

Two-goal Joe Taboun and James Pittam steered Welfare through, with Ryan Lamb and Kyle Johns replying.

Adam Hepple notched a hat-trick as Seaham Marlborough outgunned Sherburn United 6-1.

Chris Dormand, Ryan Martin and Liam Gill also netted, with Andrew Elliott replying. Keeper Damian Price shone for United.

Murton New Hesledon were too hot for New Seaham Westlea in a 6-2 away win, with Brennan Yuill and Glen Francis firing the consolations. Callum Drakesmith stood out for Westlea.

Warren French was the four-goal hero for Shotton Comrades in their 6-1 win against Seaham The George.

Jamie Yorke and Michael Boardman also notched, with Michael Charlton responding. Adam Wallace was George’s top man.

Peterlee Helford United were held to a 4-4 draw by South Hetton Cricket Club before winning their shoot-out 4-3.

Michael Cain, Philip Hickman, and subs Danny Naylor and Gary Shaw struck for Helford, with their First Division hosts relying on Graham Hall (2), Ian Morrell and Liam Houghton.

Peterlee Catholic Club won their all-Premier tie 3-1 against Easington Colliery Club Mechanics.

Two-goal super sub David Paul and Sean English did the damage, with Carl Price replying.

Easington Southside proved too strong for neighbours Easington Lerather Cap in a 3-1 succes, with two-goal Darren Massam and Matt Billyard on target.

Acre Rigg Celtic squeezed home 5-4 against neighbours Peterlee Hearts, sparked by Scott Jackson’s classy hat-trick.

Chris Tweddle and sub Jake Bell also netted, with Dave Kember (2), Jared Jones and Steven Freeman keeping Hearts in it.

Wingate Howden and Wingate Grange finished all-square at 5-5 in an epic, with Grange progressing 4-2 on penalties.

Michael Lee’s treble was backed by subs John Dale and Tom Bell for Grange, while four-goal Jack Hart and Dave Cummings levelled it up.

Two goals apiece from Paul Wilkinson and Liam Owen, plus goals from Liam McGinty and Niall Salmon, paved the way for Trimdon Royal Oaks to crush Haswell Oddfellows Arms 6-0.

There were two second round ties, with Horden Supporters Club and Dawdon Welfare Park both enjoying huge wins.

Horden hammered Easington CIU 8-0, with James Conner and Jack Pounder both netting hat-tricks. Full-back John Bowes and Ken Pounder also struck.

Dawdon, slowly but surely recapturing last year’s form, dismissed neighbours Seaham Parkside 10-0.

Doubles from Kyle Bell, Kyle Middleton, Lee Chapman and Tom Price were backed by Paul Atkinson and sub Martin Langley.
