The Green Drive men had to fight hard to knock out First Division visitors Easington Lane WMC, winning through 4-2 after an entertaining game.

Robbie Bird led the way with a brace, backed by efforts from man of the match Liam Hodgson and Les Chapman. Jai Young and Steve Ashman notched for never-say-die Lane, whose star perfortmer was Stephen Francis.

In the other semi-final, Horden CW Supporters were always in control against hosts Murton Colliery, comfortably winning 3-1.

Man of the match Jack Pounder weighed in with a brace, while Michael Robson also notched, with defender John Hutton, the home side’s star man, replying for Colliery.

The semi-finals marked the end of the league’s two-week winter break, with a full programme returning this weekend.
