A former model-turned-entrepreneur is seeing her pageant school businesses go from strength to strength as she strives to make women’s dreams come true.
Jade-Nadine Rye, 21, from Shotton Colliery, runs school ‘Fashionista JR Model School’ based at Cookway in Peterlee, which sees aspiring pageant stars train for future shows.
The former catwalk model set up the business on leaving Peter Jones Academy based at East Durham College two years ago and has also launched her own pageant called ‘A Pageant Life,’ which she co-runs with fiancé Ryan William Kenna.
Jade-Nadine said: “I run a modelling school which sees the girls come along four times a week to do training for pageants and a variety of things including gymnastics, dancing and singing, led by different teachers.
“I have also set up my own pageant called ‘A Pageant Life’ which runs every six months. “We held our second one at Bowburn Hall Hotel on April 24 which saw Ellie Cunningham win the overall title of Miss A Pageant Life Queen 2016. “The difference with my pageant is that it is open to all different ages as I believe all ages can be beautiful.
“The pageant is not about what you look like, it is about everyone enjoying taking part.”
The pageant saw participants from the age of six and above model clothing by London designer Khloe Nova in various rounds. Every model who took part went home with a certificate and were in for the chance of winning the overall title ‘Miss A Pageant Life Queen 2016. There were also prizes for the first, second and third place in each of their age and competition categories.
Jade-Nadine added: “I am so proud of myself as I studied the Peter Jones Academy and it has lead to this.
“I just want to give every women from as young as possible to as old as possible their dream.
“I believe all women are beautiful and should get the opportunity to enhance that at my event.
“The majority of pageants only limit their age groups and sometimes this makes it impossible for the greater ages to feel beautiful.”
The model school is open to women of all ages to take part in the sessions which run from 5pm onwards Monday to Wednesday and 9am to 12am on Saturdays.
