Some shoppers may also choose to wear a face covering, which will become mandatory when travelling on public transport from Monday, June 15 – the same day that many retailers will reopen for the first time.

Jim Tansey: “Have been going in essential shops for the duration with no mask and have been fine. So why suddenly wear one if you are going to a non-essential shop? Just go when it's quiet, avoid people and wash your hands when you get back.”

Sheila Treg: “Yes we have come this far. Definitely in enclosed spaces, because some people don’t know how to social distance.”

Dave Coates: “No, I will not go into outlets requiring a face mask. I was isolated for 10 weeks because I suffer from emphysema and therefore on medical advice will not be using a face mask.”

Maureen McLuckie: “Yes I will, it is a good mask and gloves that were given to me by one of my nieces, I have been wearing it when I go to the local shops, it is also washable.”

Liz Blythe: “Won’t be going anytime soon but I’d be happy to wear a mask when I do go.”

Ami Louise: “I hope people will. My husband's going back to work and all of their staff will be wearing PPE to protect their customers, so I hope that their customers will show the same level of care.”
