The current series of Love Island will continue, despite the death of its former presenter, it has been revealed.

Caroline Flack was found dead at the age of 40 at her home in east London on Saturday 15 February after taking her own life.

That night's highlights edition of the ITV2 dating show was pulled, as was the following day's regular episode following "careful consultation between Caroline’s representatives and the Love Island production team”.

2.20pm: Traffic backed up on the A184 Newcastle Road between Wardley and Testo's Roundabout

This is how Sunderland's road network is looking at the moment

Hello, it's Fiona here taking over the blog for the rest of today.

I've just had a quick look at the traffic map on Google to see if there are are queues and incidents and I can see there's a queue of traffic leading up to Testo's at Boldon from the direction of the sliproad from the Whitemare Pool roundabout.

Roadworks around Testo's, where a new flyover is being built and a new roundabout below by the Highways Agency, had led to  the A184 Newcastle Road to be narrowed down to one lane, once traffic has joined from Whitemare Pool.

As it's half-term for the schools, it seems unusual to have a jam in this area, but hopefully it'll quieten down soon.

5pm: RSPCA's disbelief after yet more snakes are found in Sunderland - this time 16 more reptiles have been saved 🐍🗑

This is the sight which greeted the RSPCA when they opened one of the two pink pillowcases.

Now yet more have been recovered by the charity after two more pillowcases were found in exactly the same bin.

Inspector Heidi Cleaver and taken a vet and are now at a specialist reptile centre for further care.

She said: “Having heard about the other poor snakes being abandoned earlier in the week, I couldn’t believe it when the call came through to say there had been even more snakes found in the exact same spot.

“These snakes had been left inside the bin so they were incredibly lucky they didn’t end up in landfill.

Here's the latest from the roads across our area.

On the A184 Newcastle Road eastbound towards Testo's there is queueing traffic through the roadworks. The travel time is 13 minutes.

On the A19 soundbound at Castle Eden in County Durham, the exit sliproad is partially blocked and there is very slow traffic due to a broken down lorry at the A181 interchange.

6pm: A19 sliproad closed off to traffic due to broken down lorry

The sliproad on to the A19 southbound has been closed due to a broken down vehicle.

We mentioned this a little earlier, but here are some more details about the closure of the sliproad off the A19 at Castle Eden.

Highways England has said the sliproad off the southbound side of the route up to the A181 interchange has been shut off to traffic due to a  broken down HGV.

A spokesperson for the agency said: "We are on scene and dealing with this. We will update you as soon as this has been cleared."

"Recovery for this HGV is on scene and we hope to have this cleared as soon as possible.

"We will update you as soon as this has been cleared and the slip road has been reopened."

7.20pm: Issues on A19/A181 interchange cleared

Good news for anyone using the route - the HGV has now been moved.
