  • Two people have been taken to hospital following a two-car crash near to the Hylton Riverside Retail Park in Sunderland.
  • The two vehicles that collided outside of the DW Gym on Timber Beach Road at around 7.30am. 
  • The road reopened at 8.40am.

11.07am: Driving south? High sided vehicles are currently unable to use the A19 in both directions at the Tees viaduct.

Restrictions apply to vehicles with a height of 6ft 9 in or higher, vehicles towing and motorcycles.

Diversions are in place.

2.10pm: Delays around the Metrocentre due to roadworks

Hi, it's Fiona here on our live news blog for the rest of today.

A little out of our area, but I know people will be heading that way during the half-term break.

Go North East has tweeted to say that due to roadworks at the shopping centre there are delays to its 49 and 49A services, which are diverting and omitting Marke Lane.

It has asked passengers to board at Swalwell Lidl or Metroasis.

Google's traffic map shows where there are queues around the Metrocentre.

3pm: Problems on the A1(M) Western Bypass

North East Live Traffic has tweeted to say there are issues on the northbound carriageway following a collision which has left one lane near Junction 67 near the Coal House Roundabout blocked.

The crash has caused delays for traffic in the area.

3.05pm: Reports of a crash on the A182 Washington Highway - issues also impacting on A1231

There are issues on the A1231 Sunderland Highway in Washington, affecting eastbound traffic.

This is believed to have partially blocked after a collision.

5.55pm: Traffic looking clear across the city

This is how traffic looks around the roundabout at the junction of A183 Chester Road, Springwell Road and Holborn Road.

I've had a look at the @NELiveTraffic cameras across Sunderland and it's looking pretty clear across Wearside.

6.35pm: Services on the Metro cancelled due to issues with 'driver resource'

It's worth checking out this link if you're using the service tonight.

8pm: Traffic reported to be heavy heading through Testo's at Boldon

There are said to be delays through the A184 Newcastle Road through the roadworks at Boldon

9.30pm: Ambulance call out leads to Metro train hold up

A train has been held at South Hylton awaiting an ambulance for an ill passenger.  

In a tweet, the service said: "We currently have a gap of 30 minutes between South Hylton and the Airport.  

"Metro apologise for the inconvenience."

10pm: Issues continue on the Metro as network reports medial alerts and vandalism on the service

I've just made a quick check as we finish up for the day and the Metro has reported it is dealing with a number of issues.

A spokesperson said: "We have delays-system wide this evening.

"These delays have been caused by three trains awaiting ambulances for ill passengers, a train being withdrawn due to an act of vandalism and two trains being cancelled due to driver resource. 

"Metro apologise for the delays to your service."

Go North East has also said that due to an incident, its Connections 4 service from Heworth at 21:48 will not operate, the service will commence from Concord at 22:00 and it has also said sorry for the delay to any journey.
