Search for Houghton pensioner's family after he dies while staying in Scarborough hotel

A search has been launched to find the family of a Houghton man who died while staying in a Scarborough hotel.

North Yorkshire Coroner’s office is asking for help to find the family of Ivan McCormick following his death during the Bank Holiday weekend.

The 73-year-old, of Byron Terrace in Houghton, which runs behind Hetton Road between Milton Avenue and Burns Avenue South, sadly died while staying at a hotel in the town on Sunday, August 30.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers have been unable to trace his next of kin and are appealing to family members or anyone who might have known Ivan and can help locate his family, to contact them.

"There are no suspicious circumstance surrounding Ivan’s death.”

Anyone who can help officers are asked to contact the North Yorkshire Coroner’s Office on (01609) 643 123.
