Health Box Nutrition and Crossfit Glacier, based in Washington, are supporting the community by offering nutritional meals and helping out those who are struggling in the area.

The two companies are using their weekly ‘Rainbow Run’ to support those who can not leave their homes and also make sure healthy diets are being maintained during the lockdown.

After being inspired by seeing acts of kindness take place on line, both companies wanted to get involved so were keen to find out how they could help the community.

Paul Davidson, 32, who is an owner at Health Box Nutrition and a coach and Crossfit Glacier, said: Following the outbreak of coronavirus and lockdown being introduced, we put a post on social media to see if our followers were aware of any vulnerable people in the area who couldn’t leave the house and perhaps didn’t have friends and family available to drop off shopping or meals.

“That first post resulted in us providing five people with healthy meals and sweet treats to help sustain them through lockdown. After that first week we have had more and more people getting in touch asking for help.”

The community focussed businesses are also selling t-shirts with a lockdown training schedule to help keep people fit and fund the meals for the vulnerable.

All the meals provided by Health Box Nutrition are nutritionally balanced with no refined sugars or preservatives to help keep the community as healthy as possible during the outbreak.

The meal prep company opened last year to support members of the community who struggled with their weight and fitness.

Mr Davidson added: “We have an amazing community of members and clients and it’s through their continued support that we have been able to do this project. Our whole family is involved from cooking to delivering the meals, which we call our weekly ‘Rainbow Run’.

It’s really reinforced the importance of family, friendship and community for us all, it’s been truly humbling.”
