Queuing for chips under social-distancing - Good Friday fish and chips in the days of the lockdown
There were Good Friday chippy queues, but not as we know them.
Residents in Sunderland stuck to the social-distancing guidelines while queuing for their traditional fish and chips.
Businesses worked round the restrictions to keep food-lovers and staff safe during the coronavirus lockdown measures.
People were pictured queuing up outside popular fish and chip restaurants, such as The Bay in Seaburn and Downey’s on the seafront at Roker on Friday, April 10.

But systems kept them at least two metres apart – in line with the government guidelines, put in place to protect people from the spread of Covid-19.
In previous years residents have been known to queue for over an hour for their fish and chips, on what is one of the busiest days of the year for many in the business.
