Netflix 'Sunderland 'Til I Die' taxi driver Peter Farrer has his say on League One vote

Station Taxis driver Peter Farrer has become one of the standout stars of the Netflix show, which was released on the streaming service for a second series in April.

Peter’s passion for his beloved club has even caught the attention of one of Argentina’s biggest clubs, River Plate, who’ve asked to fly the dad-of-two from Hendon to Buenos Aires once it’s safe to do so.

Now he’s had his say on the vote to curtail the current EFL season, meaning SAFC face a third season in the third tier as the table is settled on a points-per-game basis.

“Well I’m not very happy about it,” he said. “It’s typical of Sunderland really. Against Gillingham, five seconds earlier and they would have won and been in the play offs. Thing is you’ve got teams like Wycombe who’ve gone from eighth place to third.

“It’s sad the way it’s worked out, but we’ve got to get behind the club and start all over again. You’ve just got to hope Sunderland is better off financially than other clubs in league one, which could help.

“One of my big concerns is when we can actually go to a match at the stadium. You can watch it on TV, but it’s just not the same without a crowd and that atmosphere of going to the match with your mates. I miss that.

“I’m sure it’s the same for the players too, there’s nothing like that crowd.”
