Man taken to hospital with broken pelvis after jumping from roof in Seaham

A man has been taken to hospital after jumping off a roof in a Seaham street on Friday night (July 31).

Emergency services were called to Church Street, Seaham, after a 22-year-old man jumped from a roof and landed on a parked car below before falling onto the pavement below.

The man remains in a stable condition after fracturing his pelvis in the incident – which is not believed to be a suicide attempt.

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “Police were called after a man jumped from a roof in Church Street, Seaham, on July 31.

“Officers responded to reports of concern for a 22-year-old man who had jumped from a roof and landed on a car at around 9.45pm.

“An ambulance was called and the man was taken to hospital after suffering a fractured pelvis. He remains in a stable condition.

“A Hyundai car was damaged during the incident.”
