The South Shields star made an impression on week 11 of the show when he took to the dance floor in the annual musical special, on Saturday, November 30.

This show saw the dad-of-one take on an Oliver-inspired Foxtrot to track Consider Yourself along with dance partner Karen Hauer.

Chris is one of the final five celebrities left on the show, with fellow contestants CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual, ex-England footballer Alex Scott and actors Kelvin Fletcher and Emma Barton, remaining the last ones still dancing in the quarter-finals.

And after performing in the quarter-finals of the programme, judges were quick to praise Chris on his dancing, awarding him a total score of 28.

His routine earned him a 6 from judge Craig Revel Horwood, 7 from Mosti Mabuse, 8 from Shirley Ballas and a 7 from Bruno Tonioli.

Judge Shirley said: “It is really quite unbelievable.

“What I loved about this was that anything that was open, anything that was theatrical you gave 100%.

“It did need a bit more swing and it did need a bit more stride but generally overall what a way to open the show.”

Bruno said: “This Artful Dodger definitely knows how to put on a show.

“But the Foxtrot itself needed to be a little bit more refined.”

Craig said: “It did lack movement and the Foxtrot was very carefully placed.

“But all the musical theatre stuff had fantastic character, well done.”

Mosti said: “The opening parts were fantastic.

“Chris you have developed so much, it’s a joy to watch you dancing.”

And Chris himself seemed delighted with the judge’s feedback, saying: “It was really good fun that.

“I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it

“The choreography is amazing – it was daft, so it was right up my street, I loved it.”

He said: “The pressure was on at the beginning.

“I am feeling zero pressure because I am further than I, or Karen, or my management, or anyone in my family, or friends, or the public ever thought I would get.

“I literally can't believe it - can't believe I have made it this far.”

Throughout the competition South Shields and the wider North East has thrown its support behind the couple.

The Gazette launched its #VoteChris campaign after the comedian was paired up with professional dancer Karen in August this year.

Since its start, the readers have been out in force, determined to keep the couple out of the dreaded dance-off, which decides the couple going home each week.

And now the fate of Chris and Karen is once again in the hands of the public who will need to keep voting for the pair tonight in the hope of keeping them on the show.

The results show will be aired on ITV on Sunday, December 1, at 7:20pm.
