Here's how young bakers can apply for the next series of Channel 4's Junior Bake Off

The applications for the next series of Junior Bake Off are now open for aspiring young bakers who have dreamed of competing in the famous tent.

The Channel 4 programme that celebrates the culinary talent and ambition of the younger generation in Britain is back.

Junior bakers now have the opportunity to apply to compete in the tent for the next series of the children’s programme.

The chosen youngsters will need to tackle various baking challenges including making cakes, biscuits, bread and pastry in a bid to be crowned the Junior Bake Off champion.

Love Productions, the company behind Junior Bake Off and The Great British Bake Off, have announced applications are now open for the sixth series and youngsters have until April 5 to apply.

The hit children’s TV show returned in November 2019 following a three-year break and featured North East youngster Vaughan Kelly who won the hearts of the nation during the competition.

The then 13-year-old, from Hartlepool, made it to the semi-finals and his kindness and smiley attitude made him a hit with viewers.

Junior Bake Off previously featured on CBBC but a new series hadn’t been produced since the Great British Bake Off moved to Channel 4 in 2016.

The show, which us fronted by Harry Hill, Prue Leith and Liam Charles, saw 20 contestants taking part, with 10 bakers featured in two separate week-long heats.

Liam Charles, who shot to fame when he featured in series eight of the Great British Bake Off, said: “Junior Bake Off will be back later on this year and Prue and I are looking for passionate yet creative bakers between the ages of nine and fifteen… Apply for it, you know you want to!”

What are the requirements and how to apply?

The production team are looking for young budding bakers between 9 -15 years old.

Filming would take place from July 2020, over weekends and through the school summer holidays
