Great British Bake Off: Meet the Durham student who hopes to impress Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood in the GBBO tent
The next series of the Great British Bake Off kicks off next week – and one of the 13 amateur bakers is a student from Durham.
The line-up for this year’s prime-time baking show has been revealed and 20-year-old student Henry, of Durham, is among the bakers to enter the famous tent.
All 13 contestants are hoping to impress Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood with hopes of being crowned the winner of the Great British Bake Off.
So what do we know about Henry?
The Durham University student became interested in baking, and all things culinary, at the age of 12.
He’s dreamed of making it into the Bake Off tent since the second series when the famous tent pitched up in his local park.
Since then he’s been experimenting in the kitchen and supplying his family, friends and teachers with a variety of bakes.
Now studying English Literature at Durham University, Henry enjoys feeding his housemates with all his delicious creations.
Henry says he is fond of elegant bakes, composed of delicate and carefully combined flavours.
He said: "I have wanted to get into the tent since series two. They filmed it at the end of my road, so I used to see Paul Hollywood when I walked past the tent to go to school in the mornings, so I really got into it.
“To be inside the actual tent was totally wonderful."
When is Bake Off back?
The Great British Bake Off is back on screens on Tuesday, August 27, at 8pm on Channel 4.
