Family and friends set to say goodbye to much loved Alex Liddle as funeral details are announced

Alex Liddle, 23, was reported missing on Friday, January 3, and an appeal on social media was launched by his worried family.

Sadly his body was found at Kielder Water in the early hours of Sunday, January 5.

A funeral service will be held at Durham Crematorium today.

The family is collecting donations for the If You Care Share Foundation, a charity which supports those affected by suicide.

A post on the Kenneth Taylor Funeral Director Facebook page paid tribute to Alex saying: “Cherished son of Clare and Jon, loving stepson of Kevin and Kate, beloved brother of Adele, dear brother-in-law of Chris and step brother of Michael, devoted uncle of Annabelle, adored partner of Chloe.“A much-loved grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. Will be very sadly missed.

“Friends please meet at Durham Crematorium for service at 10.30am.

“Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if so desired for If You Care Share Foundation, a collection plate will be provided at the crematorium.”

A memorial fund set up on Go Fund Me by friend Cal Little on January 6 managed to raise more than £5,000 in just two days.

On the page he said: “We have set up this page to raise funds for a memorial for our good friend Alex Liddle, he was a loving family man who cherished his family, girlfriend and friends.

“This money will go towards keeping his memory alive forever.”
