Detectives investigating an 'unexplained death' in Sunderland release update one month on

Detectives investigating the death of a 45-year-old man in a Sunderland home do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances.

Northumbria Police was first called to reports that a body of a man had been found inside a house at around 5.10pm on Friday, February 28.

At the time, neighbours told the Echo a forensic team had been at the scene at an address in Lumley Street, Millfield, for a number of days but police said the death was believed to be an “isolated incident”.

Now detectives investigating the ‘unexplained death’ have been able to confirm they do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Police investigating the death of a 45-year-old man at an address on Lumley Street, Sunderland, on February 28 do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances.

“A report has now been prepared for the coroner.”
