Bradley Lowery Foundation launches 'car boot sale' to boost charity's coffers during Covid-19 outbreak

And in a bid to boost its fundraising, the Bradley Lowery Foundation – set up in honour of a brave six-year-old boy – has launched an online ‘car boot sale’ for the public to sell items and make donations.

Bradley Lowery, from Blackhall, died in July 2017 after a battle with neuroblastoma cancer.

An avid football fan, Bradley touched hearts aross the North East and beyond as he fought his illness, forming a precious friendship with then-Sunderland AFC striker Jermain Defoe.

He also acted as mascot for his beloved Black Cats, Everton and England.

Set up by Bradley’s loved ones, the Foundation works to support poorly children with fundraising for equipment and treatment, inspired by the youngster’s own care for children he met during his time in hospital.

The pandemic has put paid to much of the Foundation’s fundraising events and efforts, prompting the team to launch a virtual ‘car boot sale’ to boost the bank.

A statement said: “As you know, Covid-19 has limited our fundraising efforts over the past few months, so we have been looking at ways we can raise some funds to carry on the work we do for our amazing BLF children.

“We have created an online car boot page, anyone is free to sell their items, all we ask is if an item sells, you will make a small donation to BLF.”

At time of writing, more than 300 people have joined the Facebook group, with a number of items already up for sale.
