Air ambulance lands in Seaham field as six ambulances arrive on busy road

An air ambulance has landed in a Seaham field as paramedics rush to medical emergency on Tempest Road.

Witnesses say there are six ambulances at the scene parked near the Jet Petrol Garage, in Tempest Road.

North East Ambulance Service has confirmed they were called to a medical emergency at a private address in Tempest Road at 10.15am.

The Great North Air Ambulance has confirmed it has landed in Hawthorn Square field, in Seaham, after being called at 11.22am on Thursday, December 19.

Pictures show three ambulances, two hazardous area response team vehicles and one rapid response vehicle parked on the street.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We were called at 10.15am this morning to a medical emergency at a private address off Tempest Road in Seaham.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene.”

The ambulance service has also confirmed they currently remain at the address in the Seaham street.

A spokesman for Great North Air Ambulance said: “At 11.22am this morning we flew a doctor and paramedic to the scene. We treated a patient but didn’t airlift.”
