1. RSPB Satholme, Stockton
Try out birdwatching at RSPB Saltholme and be on the look out for water rail, yellow wagtails and terns.

2. Souter Lighthouse and The Leas
Go for a gentle stroll along the two and a half miles of magnesian limestone cliffs and even pop into Souter Lighthouse for a look around before you dig in to your picnic.

3. Simonside Hills, Northumberland
Take the trek to the top and stop for you picnic where you have a 360 degree view encompassing the Cheviot Hills and North Sea coastline.
