Pensioner remains in critical condition after motorcycle incident

A GRANDMOTHER is still fighting for her life after being hit by a motorcycle.

The 77-year-old was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough following the incident in South Hetton Road, Easington Lane, on Tuesday lunchtime.

Her condition is currently described as being critical, but stable.

The two people on the motorbike at the time of the collision, the driver and passenger, both in their 40s, were treated in hospital for their injuries and later released.

The road was closed for several hours following the incident.

Police are carrying out investigations into the cause of the crash and anyone with information is asked to call Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference number 487 20/05/14.
