A BOLDON nursery had a blast with the past – as it swung open its doors for a silver celebration.
Helen Gibson Nursery School, based in North Lane, East Boldon, marked its 25th anniversary by inviting former pupils, parents and staff along for a fun-packed trip down memory lane.
The nursery was decked out with archive photographs and newspaper clippings, chronicling the progress the nursery has chalked up since 1989.
There was a chance for the past to meet the present as old staff and learners were given a tour of the bright new facilities the nursery has to offer, including an outdoor learning area on the grounds.
Anyone with links to the nursery was invited to come along and join in the fun.
Jenny Parker, headteacher at Helen Gibson Nursery, said: “It was a really good event.
“We had lots of former pupils and members of staff turn up for the Silver Jubilee celebration to have a look at the archive pictures and see all the changes that have been made at the nursery over the last 25 years.”
“We would like to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who came along. The staff and children had so much fun and we loved catching up with friends who we haven’t seen for sometime.”
