Pitch Black Investigations, a team of professional paranormal investigators, offer brave souls the chance to check out some of the most haunted buildings in the country as they seek out the undead.

The North East-based team made up of team leaders Carrie and Stephen Archibald along with Cam Walton and Owen Pendlington, carried out their latest investigation earlier this month at the North East Aircraft Museum, on Old Washington Road, Sunderland.

They aimed to see how much of the paranormal was on site before opening up the investigation to the public.

Mrs Archibald said it was the first time the team had been at the museum, known by experts as being haunted by former servicemen who worked on the aircrafts.

She said: “We hold about two investigations a month at various locations across the country.
“It all started from our own interest in the paranormal.
“We used to go on a lot of investigations but sometimes felt a bit disappointed by the standard of them and felt that we had enough experience to run them ourselves.
“Typically we see around 14 people who are aged 18 and over, come along with us on an investigation from 8.45pm to around 1am depending on the location.

“We also provide them with equipment to detect energy.

“We decided to try out the museum because we have heard a lot of reports that it is haunted and wondered whether it would be a good location to hold some of our investigation events.”

Prices range from £15 to £60 and are held at locations such as the Victorian tunnels in Newcastle to the Consett and District YMCA.

The event would see groups hear about the history of the place and what to expect on the night before the investigation begins.

The group will then try to communicate with the ghosts in site and have been known to capture many on infrared cameras.

Mrs Archibald said: “Everything that happens on the nights is genuine.

“This particular location was built on a Roman graveyard so there is a lot of history there.

“During the investigation we were able to connect with a former soldier called Sam who spoke to us through a Ouija board and was able to cause the Ouija table to shake when we spoke to him.
“We will be taking bookings to carry out investigations at the museum in the New Year.”
