Painter’s life on show in exhibition

AN EXHIBITION on the life of a painter has been launched.

Faces and Places, by Peter Hemming, is on display this month at The Bishop Cosin’s Almshouse Cafe, in Palace Green, Durham City.

His work features portraits and landscapes from the North East as well as people and places he came across while living abroad in Greece and France.

Speaking about the exhibition, Mr Hemming, 64, of Belmont, in Durham, said: “It is a retrospective, but features brand new work as well. “There are a couple of old Greek boys there and a lady called Mukhtar Mei, who was a victim of gang rape in her village in India some years ago.

“The landscapes are totally different from the landscape of Durham.”

The exhibition has oil on canvas as well as watercolours and all works featured are available for sale.
