Our winner: Proud young Sunderland fan joins Fabio Borini on the pitch
Black Cat fan William Rostron's dreams came true when he won our mascot competition.
The 11-year-old’s dad Dave was one of hundreds of readers to put forward their children for the competition to lead their heroes out onto the pitch at the recent clash with Chelsea.
Fulwell youngster William was the lucky winner, meaning he got to walk onto the hallowed turf hand-in-hand with his favourite player Fabio Borini.
He also got to have a kickabout on the pitch with fellow mascots including Bradley Lowery.
Dave said: “William got to walk out with Fabio Borini – his favourite player - have a game of football with the amazing Bradley and all other mascots, and meet one or two legends in the Black Cats bar.
“It was a fantastic night that will live with him forever, his dreams came true.”
William is the first winner in a series of mascot competitions we’ll be running in the paper this season.
