Our country is too soft with serious criminals

I was fuming to read your article about the Yorkshire Ripper being admitted to our Sunderland Royal Hospital to undergo laser eye surgery. The Ripper is ripping off taxpayers.

It cost millions of pounds to solve this man’s crimes, millions to keep him jailed, and to top this laser eye surgery, which is very expensive, beyond what an average worker can afford.

Isn’t it about time we used technology we have had for many years to have everyone’s DNA placed on a master computer so we can save billions of pounds solving crimes quickly and conclusively beyond doubt.

It will save people from serial killers such as Sutcliffe who, I know a lot of people will agree with me, should be sent to the very place devils come from.

But our country is too soft.
