RICHARD ORD: Of silk pillows and wrinkles

Have your say

I WILL be giving the Fifty Shades of Grey movie a wide berth this Valentine’s, but I can’t escape buying my wife a present.

She has already hinted at what she wants. A silk pillow. Apparently, sleeping on silk pillows help reduce the number of wrinkles on your face.

It was apt that she brought this up because I read this week that a 50-year-old woman has a wrinkle-free face because she hasn’t smiled for 40 years!

Tess Christian revealed that her amazingly youthful looks are due to her conscious decision not to smile or laugh for decades.

There’s a picture of her on the internet if you want to look it up. The results are impressive. You’d have thought she would be pleased about the results. But in every picture she’s got a face like a smacked bum.

I told my wife I’d get her the silk pillow.

“Why don’t you get one yourself?” she said.

No need, with the pillows costing in excess of £40, I’ll not be smiling for some time to come.
