Majority in our poll say it was right for Harry and Meghan to lose HRH titles

The couple will also no longer formally represent the Queen. This follows their announcement that they will step down as senior royals and divide their time between the Canada and the UK.

We asked in our Facebook poll: “Are the Royal Family right to strip Harry and Meghan of their HRH titles?”

At the time of writing almost 2,000 people had voted, with 80% saying yes and 20% no. Here is some of the reaction;

Lesley Simpson said: “Can't expect to keep their titles if they’re not part of the Royal Family anymore. Can't have it both ways.”

Gary Ablett said: “Yes. If they want out of the spotlight they have to lose their royal status.”

Alice Smith thinks: “Its the only option for the way they want to live. I just hope it works out. I can't see moving to the other side of the world stopping the press. I would imagine they will now want the press to promote whatever they are going to do next.”

Ian Smith said: “All the Royal Family should be stripped and scrapped. They take up too much tax payers’ money.”

David Lloyd thinks: “Get rid of the lot, they are leeches. A poor bloke loses his job and needs benefits to get by, he’s a skiver and a drain on resources. Rich family takes millions but that's ok. What a country we are.”
