Tony Blair is right. Frank Field is right. Chuka Umunna is also right. The dogs of war have been let loose on moderate Labour MPs.
Those of us with long memories recall the days of Foot, Benn, Hatton, Scargill and Livingston. I remember having a confrontation with Toby Benn’s supporters in 1980. Just a bunch of thugs and bullies then, and they haven’t changed. Ironically Emily Benn (granddaughter) gets rude message from trolls because she’s opposed to Jeremy Corbyn.
In the 1920s the Labour party voted against a merger with the communists.
The hard left have been trying to infiltrate ever since. A number of recent letters to the Echo suggest the anti-semitism row in the party is a conspiracy by the right-wing press to discredit comrade Corbyn. But he discredits himself. He’s dim, spiteful, and he’s been well and truly found out since the last election. He’s economically illiterate – there will be a run on the pound if he becomes PM. Then there’s his conspirational world view, a knee-jerk interest in blaming the USA and the west for all the world’s ills. To claim he’s dedicated his career to the pursuit of peace is so naive.
Imagine if Labour had a decent leader from the political centre.
