Most readers also think Nicola Sturgeon and the Scottish Government have performed better than Mr Johnson and his cabinet, according to the results of our latest survey.

Over the weekend we posted a series of questions, ranging from personal safety to the Government’s response to Covid-19, across our North East titles - with hundreds of people taking part.

When asked how well they thought Mr Johnson and the UK Government have handled the coronavirus outbreak so far, 50.8 per cent voted either ‘not very well’ or ‘not well at all.’

In contrast, only 18.68 per cent said the same about Mrs Sturgeon and the Scottish Government, with 70.69 voting they are doing ‘very well’ or ‘somewhat well.’

Readers were also asked how clear they felt the UK’s ‘stay alert, control the virus, save lives’ message is, following the easing of lockdown regulations earlier this month.

Out of the people who voted, 62.35 per cent said the message was either ‘not very clear’ or ‘not clear at all.’

When lockdown measures were eased in England, Scotland didn’t feel it was safe to change the ‘stay at home’ slogan.

Many feel instructions are far clearer north of the border, with 80.17 per cent of our survey voters saying the message in Scotland is ‘very clear.’

Only 4.88 per cent believe the message is ‘not very clear’ or ‘not clear at all.’

We also asked, regardless of where people are in the UK, to what extent they agree with the UK and Scottish Governments.
