Clap for Carers: What Echo readers said as 'final' weekly tribute to key workers took place
The event has taken place every Thursday since March 26, with millions of families across the UK participating in the tribute in honour of care staff and other frontline workers.
Organiser Annemarie Plas this week said that this week’s Clap – held yesterday on Thursday, May 28 – was likely to be the last as it was ‘good to stop at its peak’.

Hide AdShe also told the PA News Agency she shared the opinion of some that the event was getting ‘politicised’.
More than 2,500 people took part in the vote with 77% answering no.

Elizabeth Morrow: “I haven’t clapped, doesn't mean I don't think they're doing a marvellous job, I donate where I can, bought my daughters the NHS rainbow t-shirts, and I follow the lockdown rules, I think that's the best thing we can do for all of the frontline workers, be sensible.”
