One person taken to hospital after car hits lamppost in Peterlee

One person has been taken to hospital after their car hit a lamppost on the A19.

Ambulance crews were called to the incident at 7.48pm after the car crashed on the A19 southbound in Peterlee.

Crews took the person to North Tees Hospital but the extent of their injures is not known.

One lane of the A19 southbound in Peterlee between the A1086 junction and the A181 junction was closed because of the accident.
