REAL ale fans are in for a treat when a beer festival makes a return to Sunderland.

The Sunderland and South Tyneside branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) will be bringing the Sunderland Octoberfest beer festival back to the city this week.

From Thursday to Saturday, the festival, which is now in its fourth year, will return to the Bonded Warehouse, Low Street.

A selection of real ales from micro and independent breweries across the country will be on offer, with beers ranging from mild, bitters and stouts to wheat beers, fruit-flavoured beers and a chilli stout.

This year’s festival we see the launch of the Sunderland Ale Trail Leaflet – a list of pubs selling real and is set out in three separate trails: Deptford; the City Centre and Roker and Fulwell.

The festival is open from 4pm to 10.30pm on Thursday, 1pm to 10.30pm on Friday and from noon on Saturday.
