KEEN artists will show off their work at Sunderland Minster this summer.

Painters from the city’s Silksworth Art Group will be showcasing their work at the church for three weeks in August.

It is the first time the 31-strong group of pensioners have displayed their work in the Minster.

The group have chosen to pay tribute to mark the centenary of the First World War in a series of poignant paintings.

Sunderland’s Mayor, Councillor Robert Heron, will official open the display of 40 artworks at 6pm on August 5.
