A PENSIONER was rushed to hospital after a collision in Sunderland.

The 70-year-old man’s car left the road outside Monkwearmouth Hospital and crashed into a parked car shortly before 9am on Saturday.

He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital, where he was treated for injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.

It is not known what led to his Vauxhall Astra coming off the road and hitting the other car, which was empty.
