Sam Allardyce and the Sunderland bench were caught up in a touchline tussle early on in the game.
"I was protecting my box and my players at the time. I got a bit carried away, there was a lot of emotion in the game.
"It was such a big game and I don't know why they came running over as much as they did but I was going to protect my players and mob," Allardyce said.

Hide AdAllardyce was delighted with the efforts of his Sunderland squad.
"To get 3-0 is a massive result and massive performance from the lads," he said.
"It gives us a lot more hope. The goal difference could be a factor, with only five games to go."
